Today’s feast day is far more than just a celebration of the birth of the church: that is to limit God into an historical moment. It’s also more than a “remembering” of “an event” which occurred in Jerusalem, when, behind closed doors, God appeared to the disciples and women in the form of “tongues of flames” and “the Breath” of the Holy Spirit which was to empower them to go out and spread the Good News to all nations. No!
Today’s celebration is a celebration of the fulfilment of the promise that God would be with us always: “I am with you always, to the end of time”.
(c.f. Mt 28:20; Jn 14:16). Today’s celebration is a celebration of the reality that GOD IS WITH IS AND WITHIN US.
It is also a celebration and an affirmation of our constant need of God’s divine life. Today, let us say with the Psalmist, “As a deer yearns for running water, so my soul yearns for you, my God” (Ps 42:1-2) … Lord, my soul longs for you.
Fr. Philip Sainter
Fr. Terry Watson

There will be an opportunity for Reconciliation / Confessions on the previous Sunday, 9th June, at 3.00pm for the children and their families which ALL FHC candidates should attend.
