Audio recording of Daily Mass

Morning Mass in the Side Chapel

The present Side Chapel was added during 1992, besides being used for the daily morning Mass it is also as a family room at other times.

We hope to have a new recording of the weekday mass available each day.

The recording has been made using a relatively simple technical process and the size of the recoding has been kept to a minimum
whilst still trying to retain a degree of audio quality.  The size of the resultant file means that it is best heard via a broadband link.

An explanation of the Mass that you will hear is given below
The acutal content of the Mass may vary from day to day.
(Blue print describes what is happening, Light print is spoken by the Priest
and print in bold is spoken by the congregation and Priest)

GREETING
The Priest begins the Mass by making the Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord be with you
And also with you
A reading from the holy Godspel according to St…..
(at the end of the Godspel)

HOMILY
In the weekday Mass this is a very brief reflection by the Priest around the relevance of the readings and Gospel or an issue that is topical to our faith

PRAYER PETITIONS
We ask Our Lord to grant petitions for ourselves and those of the wider world with a response after each petition.
Lord hear us

INTERCESSION OF OUR LADY
We offer our intentions to Mary the Mother of God (Our Lady)

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee, Blessed art thou amongst women and Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners,  now, and at the hour of our death. Amen

PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR & THE GIFTS
The gifts of bread and wine are brought to the altar and offered by the priest to God before the Consecration

The Priest also washes his hands and asks God to cleanse him ahead of the Consecration,

Blessed are you Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this bread to offer which earth has given and human hands have made. It will become for us the bread of life.
Blessed be God forever
Blessed Are you Lord God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink.
Blessed be God forever
By the mystery of this water and wine may come to share in the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity
.Lord God we ask you to receive us and also to be pleased with sacrifice that we offer with humble and contrite hearts.
Lord, Wash away my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
Pray brethren that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God the almighty Father.

May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his church.
(A short prayer is said)
……Through Christ our Lord

Amen

PREFACE TO THE CONCECRATION
Before the Priest Consecrates the bread and the wine an acclamation of praise is offered to God.

This is in keeping with the praises being sung in heaven by the angels and archangels. We ask God if we can join in with those songs of praise.
The Lord be with you.
And also with yo
Lift up your hearts
We lift them up to the Lord
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God
It is right to give him thanks and praise
(The priest then says a prayer that leads into the acclamation)
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord
Hosanna in the highest.

THE CONCECRATION
This is the most sacred part of the Mass where the Priest consecrates the bread and the wine so that it may become for us the body and blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

We will then receive his body and blood in the Holy Communion that will follow.

At the point of blessing and at the point of Consecration the Sanctus bell is rung.

The words of Consecration are contained in the Eucharistic prayer that is said by the priest. One of four Eucharistic prayers can be used.

A response is made from the congregation during these prayers
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

Let us proclaim the mystery of faith
Christ has died
Christ is risen
Christ will come again
OR
Dying you destroyed our death
Rising you restored our life
Lord Jesus come in glory
Or
When we eat this bread and drink this cup We proclaim your death Lord Jesus, until you come in glory
Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour are yours almighty Father forever and ever.
Amen

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Before receiving Our Lord in Holy Communion we offer up the prayer that he taught us.
God taught us to call him “Father” and so we pray to the Father with confidence.
Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Deliver us Lord from every evil and grant us peace in our day. Keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Saviour , Jesus Christ.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever.
Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your Apostles “I leave you peace, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom where you live forever and ever.
Amen

THE PEACE
As we approach Our Lord in the blessed Sacrament we pray for peace in our world and we offer each other in the congregation a sign of our peace.
The peace of the Lord be with you always.
And also with you
Let us offer each other a sign of our peace

THE COMMUNION
The priest and members of the congregation now receive the body and blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. This is preceded by a prayer directly to Jesus who was sacrificed for us and who became the Lamb of God
Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us
Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us
Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world; happy are those who are called to his supper
Lord I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed

THE COMMUNION
Holy Communion is distributed to the congregation followed by a short period of silent reflection as the alter is cleared prior to the conclusion of the MASS.  After the Communion,  Eucharistic Ministers take Holy Communion to the sick and\or housebound.
.

A short prayer of thanksgiving after receiving Holy Communion.
Jesus, Bread of Life, I adore You, I praise You, I give You thanks.   Stay with me, Lord, for without You, I am lost.  Stay with me, Lord, and let me feel the warmth of Your love, the power of Your grace and the peace of Your forgiveness.   Stay with me, Lord, and help me to make this day an offering pleasing and acceptable in Your sight.   Lord Jesus, make me the person You want me to be and prepare me for the ecstacy of seeing You, face to face, in the glory of Your Kingdom.  Amen.
PRAYERS AFTER HOLY COMMUNION
Two prayers are said after Holy Communion in thanksgiving and to ask for God’s help to keep us in his grace.

Let us pray
Father,

Our faith is a gift from you.
Help us by the power of your Spirit
to grow in love, so that we may be
Faithful to our baptism
Alert to the needs of our world
Inspired to proclaim your Word
Tireless in upholding justice
Hopeful in forming the future.
By handing on our faith as a gift,
may we share the hope given us by Jesus your Son.
Amen.

THE BLESSING
The priest conveys a blessing upon the members of the congregation and brings the Mass to a conclusion.
The Lord be with you
And also with you
May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen
The Mass is ended, go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
Thanks be to God
