SEA SUNDAY

“Jesus called the Twelve and began to send them out in pairs  giving them authority (power) over unclean spirits.  He ordered them to take nothing with them for the journey except a staff” (Mk 6:7)

Christianity is not a one-man band. To be a Christian means to be a member of God’s kingdom.  We are a community of “kingdom people”.  It’s together that we journey through life: living and working together – doing things together … supporting one another … helping to carry one another’s loads.

In Matthew 11:30 Jesus describes the cross as a yoke:  “Come to me all you who labour and are overburdened and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls.  Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light”.     So, what binds us together as Christians, is the “the yoke”, the cross of Christ.

Will you be another Simon of Cyrene, and help me carry my cross?
