This appeal is organised by the charity Samaritan’s Purse. It is a wonderfully simple idea – filling empty shoeboxes with small gifts and toys for disadvantaged children in other countries in time for Christmas.
St Mary’s coordinates the collection of filled shoeboxes for the Catholic community in Loughborough. The boxes are then loaded onto lorries and driven to their destination—usually an Eastern European country.
There are many ways to be involved in the appeal: either donating a box, filling a box, contributing gifts to go in the boxes, wool for people to knit up into hats, gloves, scarves etc.
